Spyros Bissas
(He/him)
Spyros is currently an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellow and plans to explore the use of machine learning to optimize myopia control strategies in clinical trials, with a focus on interventions for managing and slowing myopia progression. He was awarded the NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in 2024 and subsequently enrolled in the Health Data Analytics and Machine Learning MSc program at Imperial College London. After completing the program, Spyros will continue his research at ICTU, exploring machine learning methods to enhance myopia control in clinical settings.
Spyros’s academic journey began with a BSc in Optics & Optometry from the University of West Attica in Greece, followed by an MSc in Clinical Optometry from Cardiff University in 2023, where his research focused on applying Artificial Intelligence to detect diabetic retinopathy. Driven by a deep interest in AI’s potential in healthcare, he also completed a course in Data Analytics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
